The Wonder City Almanac: April 22, 2013
April 22, 1774: This could be categorized as an “Only in New York” moment in history. The British ship London docks in New York with a massive cargo of tea. The local chapter of the Sons of Liberty decide to take a page from Boston’s book and have a little tea party of their own. The event draws such a crowd that while the Sons are doing their hair and make-up to look like Indians, the impatient masses board the London and dump the tea into the Hudson.
